Posted Mon, Mar 27, 2023, From Town of Kearny

Kearny, NJ –The Kearny Health Department sponsored its annual free dog and cat rabies clinic from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, March 26, 2023. The popular clinic was held at the Franklin Elementary School Rear Recreational Field Parking Lot and, as in prior years, was well attended. A total of 169 dogs and 13 cats were vaccinated. The Kearny Health Department also issued 116 animal licenses (113 dog and 3 cat licenses) at the event.

Vaccination and animal control programs have helped to prevent rabies in most pets. It is important to keep your dog or cat up to date on rabies vaccinations. Cats and dogs that spend time outdoors may have more risk of encountering a rabid wild animal, but it is important to also vaccinate pets that stay indoors. The Town of Kearny extends their gratitude and appreciation to the staff at the Health Department, a record number of dogs and cats were vaccinated in an efficient and friendly manner.
