July 17, 2023: Two Arrested during Large Bar Fight

On July 17th, 2023, at approximately 1:33 AM, the Guttenberg Police Department received a call requesting assistance with a large fight at the M Bar and Restaurant located at 7000 John F. Kennedy Boulevard. Police Officers of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division immediately responded, and once on scene, observed a group of individuals in a heated verbal argument with the establishment’s staff. As police officers attempted to intervene between the two groups, two individuals began assaulting the first three (3) Guttenberg officers who initially arrived on scene. Police Officers from the North Bergen Police Department were requested and assisted our officers needing immediate aid. During the fight, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested a 34-year-old male, Luis M. Baca-Turcios, of Jersey City, NJ, and a 29-year-old male, Napoleon Anduray-Romero, of Union City, NJ.

As the result of his arrest, Mr. Baca-Turcios was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer [2C:12-1B(5)(A)], Resisting Arrest with Force [2C:29-2A(1)], Unlawful Possession of a Weapon [2C:39-5D], Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-10A(1)], and Failure to Make Lawful Disposition [2C:35-10C].

As the result of his arrest, Mr. Anduray-Romero was charged with three (3) counts of Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer [2C:12-1B(5)(A)], three (3) counts of Resisting Arrest with Force [2C:29-2A(3)(A)], Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-10A(1)], Failure to Make Lawful Disposition [2C:35-10C], and Disorderly Conduct [2C:33-2A(1)].

Luis M. Baca-Turcios and Napoleon Anduray-Romero were transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation. Both males were later transported and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center, in Kearny, NJ.

Three (3) members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division sustained injuries due to this incident. They were subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and later released.
