Guttenberg Police Blotter - July 10th, 2023 to July 16th, 2023

1. On July 10th, 2023, at 12:21 AM, during a motor vehicle stop, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested a 31-yearold male, Jhon E. Madrid, for hindering his apprehension [ 2C:29-3B(4)] after providing false information regarding his identity. Mr. Madrid was issued a complaint summons and then released.

2. On July 10th, 2023, at 11:09 PM, during a motor vehicle stop, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested 36-year-old Cristian A. Benitez, of Elizabeth, NJ; 24-year-old Juan D. Palacios, of Elizabeth, NJ; and 45-year-old Marcos Puerto, of Elizabeth, NJ. All three were arrested for the possession of a controlled dangerous substance [2C:35-10A(1)], failing to make lawful disposition [2C:35-10C], and possession of drug paraphernalia [2C:36-2]. They were each issued their complaint summons and then released from custody.

3. On July 12th, 2023, at 2:44 AM, during a motor vehicle stop, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested 27-year-old Justice R. Torres, of Jersey City, NJ, after discovering that he had an active criminal warrant from Jersey City. Mr. Torres was later transferred to the custody of members of the Jersey City Police Department.

4. On July 12th, 2023, at 3:26 PM, the Guttenberg Police Department assisted the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office (Florida) with an ongoing investigation of a stolen vehicle. During the course of the investigation, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested 53-year-old Francis D. Rodriguez of Guttenberg, NJ, after uncovering vast amounts of narcotics and evidence of narcotics trafficking. Mr. Rodriguez was charged with receiving stolen property [2C:20-7A], manufacturing/distributing a controlled dangerous substance [2C:35-5B(4)], manufacturing/distributing over 25lbs of Marijuana [2C:35-5B(1)(A)], manufacturing/distributing controlled dangerous substances within 500 feet of a public park [2C:35-7.1A], and manufacturing/distributing controlled dangerous substances within 1000 feet of a school [2C:35-7A] among other criminal charges. Mr. Rodriguez was issued his complaint warrant and later transported to the Hudson County Correctional Center in Kearny, NJ.

5. On July 12th, 2023, at 11:35 PM, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a request for police regarding an individual refusing to leave a store. During the on-scene investigation, the Guttenberg Police Department arrested 45-year-old Jorge Santos of Guttenberg, NJ. Mr. Santos was charged with defiant trespass [2C:18-3B] and resisting arrest [2C:29-2]. Mr. Santos was issued his complaint summons and then released from custody.
