On March 30, 2023, at 1:30 pm, Millburn Police Officer Matos responded to Nordstrom at the Mall at
Short Hills for a report of shoplifting. Nordstrom associates reported that Xuemei Yang, age 43, of
Summit concealed $783 of merchandise and attempted to leave the store without paying. Yang was
arrested and charged with shoplifting. She was later released on her own recognizance.
On March 31, 2023 at 10:19 pm, Millburn Police Officer Aliotta responded to a red Honda Civic on JFK
Parkway stopped in a lane of traffic. The investigation led to the arrest of Arnold Vasquezamaya, age 23,
of Union for suspected DWI. Vasquezamaya was charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test,
disorderly conduct and related motor vehicle offenses. He was later released to an acquaintance.
On March 31, 2023 at 10:51 pm, Millburn Police Officer Seebohm stopped a GMC Yukon on Morris Tpk
near Broad St for motor vehicle violations. The investigation led to the arrest of Joseph Fuller, age 41, of
Brooklyn for suspected DWI. The passenger, Ruby Hernandez, age 41, of Brooklyn, was also arrested for
obstruction. Hernandez was summonsed and released. Fuller was charged with DWI and related motor
vehicle offenses. He was later released to an acquaintance.
On April 3, 2023, at 4:20 pm, Millburn Police Officer Jezewski responded to Nordstrom at the Mall at
Short Hills for a report of theft. Nordstrom associates reported that Maquan McPherson, age 25, of
Philadelphia, PA entered a secure storage area and attempted to hide when loss prevention arrived.
The investigation led to the arrest of McPherson, who was charged with burglary and later released on
his own recognizance.
On April 7, 2023 at 6:00 pm, Millburn Police Officer Matos stopped a blue Toyota on White Oak Ridge
Road for an active warrant. The driver, Roni Carrera, age 46, of North Plainfield, who was not the
wanted person, was arrested for using a false name, tampering with public records, and being an
unlicensed driver. He was later released on his own recognizance.
On April 8, 2023 at 1:00 am, Millburn Police Officers Aliotta, Recinos, Lanni and Detective Royce located
three suspicious males on Elm Street who were walking up driveways and trying to open vehicles. The
officers attempted to stop the suspects and the suspects ran. After a brief foot pursuit, Tyjamir Tolliver,
age 20, of Newark, and Quamid Graves, age 21, of Irvington were caught and placed under arrest for
obstruction. Both males were charged and later released on their own recognizance. The third male
was not located. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On April 8, 2023, Millburn Police Officer O’Neill responded to a Chestnut St residence on a report of
burglary to a vehicle. The resident reported that sometime overnight, his Lexus was entered while
parked in his driveway, unlocked. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police
Detective Bureau.
On April 8, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Zonn responded to a Whitney Road residence on a report of
attempted burglary to the residence. The resident reported that at 12:50 am, he captured two suspects
attempting to enter the rear of his home on security camera. This incident remains under investigation
by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On April 10, 2023, Millburn Police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle at 8:01 am on JFK parkway
with several black males running from it. The vehicle was a 2019 grey Kia Forte reported stolen out of
Newark. Millburn and Livingston Police located four of the males, juveniles, ages 15, 16 and 17, of
Newark, on the property of New Jersey American Water Company. The males were taken into custody
for receiving stolen property. They were charged with juvenile delinquency (obstruction and receiving
stolen property) and released to family members. The juvenile that was determined to be the driver
also has an extensive history and was remanded to Essex County Juvenile Detention. This incident
remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On April 10, 2023, at 9:15 am Millburn Police Officer Shanahan responded to a Haddonfield Road on a
report of theft of a vehicle. The reporting person stated that her rental vehicle, a 2020 BMW X7, was
stolen after she parked it in the street and left it running for a few minutes. The vehicle was later
recovered in Newark. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On April 10, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Reid responded to a Long Hill Drive residence on a report of
burglary to a vehicle. The resident reported that at 9:41 am he discovered his BMW X6 had been
rummaged through. At 5:41 am, his security camera captured the two actors approach his vehicle in his
driveway and enter it, but nothing was missing from the vehicle. This incident remains under
investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
On April 11, 2023, at 11:00 am, Millburn Police Officer Jezewski responded to the Mall at Short Hills on a
report of burglary to a vehicle. The victim reported that at 11:00 am she discovered that Honda CR-V
had been entered and her purse had been stolen. The suspect also entered two additional vehicles at
the mall. Officer Jezewski and Detective Royce conducted an investigation, which led to the arrest of
Andri Valdez, age 21, of Paterson. Valdez was charged with three counts of burglary, two counts of
credit card fraud and theft. He remains in the custody of New Jersey State Police on a felony warrant.
On April 11, 2023, at 5:21 pm Millburn Police Officer Jezewski responded to the Mall at Short Hills on a
report of theft of a vehicle. The reporting person stated that her 2018 Grand Cherokee SRT was stolen
between 4:00 and 4:20 pm from parking Lot J. The vehicle had been locked and she had the key FOB.
The vehicle was later recovered in East Orange. This incident remains under investigation by the
Millburn Police Detective Bureau.
These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or
are found guilty in a court of law.
