Case Update June 20, 2023

On June 7, 2023, at 4:17 pm Officer Palmer responded to Sunoco Gas station in Millburn on a report of a male that couldn’t pay for his gas after filling up his vehicle. A record check of the driver Mclenzy Exuma age 20 of Union NJ was completed and revealed that he had two active warrants for his arrest out of Union NJ. He was placed under arrest. He was later turned over to Union Police Department. Exuma made an arrangement with the gas station to make a payment at a later date.

On June 9, 2023 at 12:34 pm, Millburn Police Officer Frisch and Bifano responded to the area of 357 Millburn Ave on a report of intoxicated male screaming in the street. As the officers pulled up they observed the individual Carlo Caparrava age 56 of Maplewood NJ, shove and strike a female that was getting into a parked vehicle. The subject was arrested and charged with simple assault. He was later released on his own recognizance.

On June 9, 2023 at 11:36 am, Millburn Police Officer Dundon located a stolen vehicle traveling north on Wyoming Ave. The vehicle was a stolen 2023 Dodge Ram with NY Plate KBR4639, it was entered stolen by Port Authority police. Officer Dundon conducted a traffic stop. The investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Maughan age 29 of Somerset NJ and the arrest of Brian Mcdonagh age 26 of Bronxville NY. Both suspects were charged with receiving stolen property and later released on their own recognizance.

On June 11, 2023, at 06:10Millburn Police Officer Aliotta responded to a Linden street residence for a report of a theft of a vehicle. The resident reported that sometime overnight, his 2022 BMW X5 was stolen from his driveway. The vehicle was later recovered in Bloomfield NJ. This incident is under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On June 19, 2023, at 9:50 am Millburn Police Officer Marone responded to Monterey Cleaners, at 569 Millburn Ave on a report of a burglary to the business. The owner reported that video showed at 04:40 am two actors described as black males wearing dark clothing, masks and gloves force entry to the rear door of the business. The actors stole $200.00 from the cash register and then left the store. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On June 19, 2023, at 05:59 pm, Millburn Police Officer Zonn responded to parking lot J at the mall at Short Hills on a report of theft from a person. The victim reported that she advertised her Chanel handbag for sale on Facebook marketplace. She set up a meeting with a potential buyer at the Mall, and met the buyer in front of Nordstrom’s. As she was showing the male the handbag the suspect grabbed the bag and snatched it out of the victim’s hands. He then ran off towards the parking deck. She described the suspect as a young black male wearing a black shirt and grey sweatpants. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty in a court of law
