Case Update August 2, 2023

On July 23, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Zonn responded to a Joanna Way residence on a report of a burglary to a vehicle. The owner reported that at 6:00 am he witnessed two black males with dreads wearing dark clothing entered his unlocked 2020 Audi Q7. The actors then ran towards a grey sedan and fled the area. There was nothing missing from the vehicle. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 24, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Reid responded to a Monterey Village apartments on a report of burglary to a vehicle. The resident reported that sometime within previous day an unknown actor entered her rental vehicle, a 2019 Rav4 and stole multiple Apple IPhones out of her glovebox(total value $2,300.00) . One of the IPhones was currently pinging in Jersey City. Jersey City Police department was contacted to assist us, with negative results. This incident is under further investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 27, 2023 at 11:33 am, Millburn Detective Royce and DeRosa located a parked GMC Envoy, in Jparking lot at the Short Hills Mall with no front plate. The rear plate and had a tinted rear plate cover with reflective tape on it. These type of obstructions are commonly used to hinder an officer’s view, or camera views of the true plate number, to hide the driver’s identity. A short while later a male and female exited Nordstrom’s and left in the vehicle. A traffic stop was conducted. The driver Randy Sampson, age 35, of Orlando FL, had an active warrant out of Hillsborough for receiving stolen property. Sampson was arrested and later turned over to Hillsborough Police department.

On July 27, 2023, at 2:30 pm Millburn Police Officers Marone responded to Macys at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of a shoplifter in custody. Macy’s asset protection reported that a male, later identified as Frantzy Damestoir, age 29, of Irvington, NJ selected several articles of clothing and concealed them(total value $1,141.75). He then left the stores without making payment. The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect for shoplifting. He was charged with shoplifting and released on his own recognizance.

On July 28, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Ford responded to a Nottingham Rd residence on a report of burglary to a vehicle. The owner reported that someone entered her unlocked 2016 Mercedes Benz MG5 and stole multiple personal items, with a total value $1,430.00. This occurred sometime overnight. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 29, 2021, at 1130 Millburn Police Officer Marone responded to an Old Short Hills rd. residence on a report of burglary to a vehicle. The resident reported that at 03:31 am on July 29, his security cameras captured a suspect as they walk up his driveway and enter his two unlocked vehicles, a 2017 MB GLS and a2014 Audi Q5. The actor stole his wallet containing multiple credit cards, a driver license and $100 cash. The actor attempted to use the victim’s credit cards at an unknown location. This incident is under further investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 29, 2023, at 10:40 am, Millburn Police Officer Carroll responded to Nordstrom at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of a shoplifting theft that just occurred. Nordstrom associates reported that a female (age 27), later identified as Marni Siegel, out of West Orange, had concealed multiple clothing items valued at $543.00 and left the store without paying. Siegel was placed under arrest and charged with shoplifting, she was later released on her own recognizance.

On July 30, 2023, Millburn Police Officer Catinella responded to an Edgewood Terrace residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. The resident reported that his house was burglarized sometime overnight. The actor gain entrance through an unlocked first floor window. The actor stole a wallet containing credit cards and $400 cash and two watches. The Victim’s wallet was later recovered in a stolen vehicle, a Hyundai Sonata, that was recovered Westfield NJ. The vehicle was originally stolen out of Newark. The incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

On July 31, 2023, at 6:30 pm Millburn Police Officers Palmer responded to Macys at the Mall at Short Hills for a report of a theft that just occurred. Macy’s asset protection reported that a male, later identified as Rodolfo Valentinobasurto, age 28, of East Orange, NJ selected several articles of clothing and concealed them(total value $386.75). He then left the stores without making payment. The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect for shoplifting. He was charged with shoplifting and released on his own recognizance.

On July 31, at 4:18 pm Millburn Police Officer Manuyag observed a male soliciting candy on Millburn Ave. Officer Manuyag approached the man and asked if he was selling candy. The subject Shaki Clemons, age 26, of Newark, acknowledged that he was in fact selling candy, and that he is aware of the township ordinance. Clemons was issued a summons for soliciting without a permit, and released at the scene.

On August 1, 2023, at 3:57 pm Millburn Police Officer Kerwein responded to a Westview Ave residence on a report of a burglary to the residence. The resident reported that sometime in the past two days, an unknown actor forced entry to the residence through a rear glass door. The actor ransacked the multiple bedrooms and stole a large amount of jewelry. This incident remains under investigation by the Millburn Police Detective Bureau.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea or are found guilty in a court of law.
