Newark Resident Arrested for Motor Vehicle Theft

Fairfield (NJ) The Fairfield Police Department announces the arrest of Juan Torres for theft, receiving stolen property, and criminal attempt to commit burglary. As stated in an earlier press release, Torres was suspected in the possession of a stolen motor vehicle that was left in the parking lot of Fisher Transmission on June 20, 2023. He was also suspected in leaving that vehicle and stealing a different vehicle from that lot.

Detective Nicholas Cocchi continued the investigation and was able to determine that Torres allegedly commitedthose crimes. A warrant was put out for Torres’ arrest. On June 29, 2023, Torres was arrested by the Bloomfield Police Department on unrelated charges. He was then turned over to our detectives who processed him and transported him to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ pending an initial appearance. This case is now closed.
