Lyndhurst Resident Arrested for Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance

Fairfield (NJ) – The Fairfield Police Department announce the arrest of Mariel Armengot (34) of Lyndhurst, NJ, for possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) following a motor vehicle stop on July 18, 2023. On that date, Corporal Jeffrey Dean was on patrol when he conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white Honda Civic. Armengot was found to be the driver and only occupant.

While speaking with Corporal Dean, it is alleged that Armengot’s story changed several times. Further investigation on scene allegedly revealed (57)Gabapentin pills located in the vehicle. Armengotallegedly could not provide any specific information as to who prescribed the pills to her or why they were not in a properly marked container.

Armengot was placed under arrest, transported to headquarters, and processed. In addition to being charged with possession of prescription legend drugs, Armengot was also issued several motor vehicle summonses. She is scheduled to appear at the Essex County Superior Court on October 3, 2023.
