This is a repeat of a hike we did last December. It was quite cold then so hopefully we will have nicer weather. This will be a flat (easy) hike of approximately 9 miles. We will begin at 10:30am on the South side of Hoboken terminal, past track 17 and near the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail platforms. Hoboken Terminal is accessible by PATH, various NJTransit lines, NJTransit buses (#126 from Port Authority bus station) , NJTransit Hudson-Bergen Light Rail and the NY Waterway ferry. We will head south on the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway, crossing into Jersey City taking in the magnificent views of lower Manhattan and ending at the Colgate Clock a 50-foot diameter clock from the Colgate plant. We will lunch at a park in downtown Jersey City where there will be options to purchase lunch if you didn’t pack your own. Next we will proceed to Liberty State Park visiting the Central Railroad of New Jersey historic terminal (now the location of the National Park office for the Statue of Liberty cruises) and walking past Ellis Island and eventually past Liberty Island. The Jersey City shore is the closest mainland to these two islands. You can get great views of both the Statue of Liberty and downtown Manhattan, a perfect place for a group photo. We return to downtown Jersey City where there are two gay bars and the Grove Street PATH from which you can go to the World Trade Center or the stops at Christopher Street and along 6th Avenue.
