Community Day: Dia das Crianças

Let’s celebrate Children’s Day! This free day at the Museum is all about Brazil’s popular holiday Dia das Crianças or Children’s Day. Enjoy capoeira performances, storytelling, ballet dance, food, artmaking, and much more.

12:30 pm Performance by BATALÁ New York, Afro-Brazilian percussion ensemble

1:10 pm Capoeira Performance with Ile da Capoeira

1:45pm Ballet performance by La Dance Performing Arts Academy

2:30pm Tae Kwon Do demonstration with the Cultural Arts and Integration Association

3:10pm Storytelling with Vivian Valim Vaz

3:45 pm Soccer demonstration with CCPRO Soccer

4:10 pm Pathfinders Survival skills demonstration

Traveling to the Museum

We anticipate a large turnout for this event. We encourage you to take public transportation to the Museum. You will find more information below:

Public Transportation

You can easily get to the Museum using the Newark Light Rail, getting off at the Harriet Tubman Square stop or the Washington Street stop. You can also arrive via NJ Transit heavy rail, as we are three blocks from Broad Street Station.

Driving

The Museum has a parking lot with limited space. It is $10 to park. Downtown Newark has ample on-street parking. We also recommend going to http://Parking.com and searching using the Museum's Address, 49 Washington Street, Newark, NJ to find available parking.

Uber/Lyft

The Museum is located at 49 Washington Street. You will enter through our main entrance which faces Washington Street.
